Priyanka Choudhary: I want to do roles that willl find a connect with masses and they can easily relate

TV actress Priyanka Choudhary, who was last seen on Gathbandhan, who recently changed her name from Pari to Priyanka is looking forward to doing challenging roles both in films and television. Her dream role is the one that Kareena Kapoor played in Jab We Met and Alia Bhatt in Highway. She says, “Defining a particular role would be a tad bit unfair. Expectations often lead to preconceived notions, and that’s the last thing one wants. Having said that, doing a role like Kareena from Jab We Met or Alia Bhatt from Highway would definitely be very interesting. Kareena’s role is similar to how I am as a person, and Alia’s role on the contrary would be a challenge as it’s a totally different mindset I would have to adapt too!”

The actress aspires to be remembered for the variety of roles she gets to essay onscreen and mostly the viewers should connect with it.

Priyanka has a great physique and she keeps fit with her regular cardio sessions. She says, “Regular cardio sessions, sleeping on time and no late meals is important.” The actress has no qualms in wearing a bikini on screen if the role demands it. She says, “I think it all depends on the script in front of you and vision of the director. If the scene requires a bikini, and it is being depicted in a tasteful manner, I’m okay with it. ”

Finally, Priyanka connects with TV shows that were made a decade back. She says, “I think Indian TV over the years has given us content that’s far better than anything in the shorter format. A Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Hum Paanch or a Dekh Bhai Dekh would anyway still be popular amongst common people. TV has its own reach and it’s own audience. I think we all have to respect that.”

HUL’s decision to remove ‘fair’ is a welcome but not the ultimate victory: Mou Das

HUL’s decision to remove ‘fair’ is a welcome but not the ultimate victory: Mou Das

The brutal killing of George Floyd in the US once again sparked the debate about colourism and racism. Soon Johnson and Johnson announced that it would stop the production of two of its creams, and Hindustan Unilever Limited quickly followed suit and issued a statement saying they will remove the word “fair” from its popular product “Fair & Lovely”.

Sharing her views on this, producer Mou Das said, “I believe humanity continues to perpetuate in discrimination and violence in small and large scale contexts. ‘Colour and Races’ have waged the worst forms of war, not just against nations but also against humanity.”

“Unless people are stopped from being stigmatized in the world arena by their races and colours, even the next generation will be as much as a victim of these discriminations,” she added.

Mou says she doesn’t blame any particular race and added that we all are victims of our situatedness.

She further said, “All our claims are through our experiences. A girl must not be judged by her appearance, or by the colour of her eyes or of skin or hair. Intrinsic qualities must define an individual. Marriage portfolios are a representation of exactly the conservative mental frame. The multi-billion cosmetic industry runs luring girls to buy magical lotions and potions to improve their skin tone.”

“Now if suddenly no one desires to improve their skin colour what will happen to this Big Game? So definitely not everyone will desire for a world where women will realise their identity beyond their physical features. Hindustan Unilever Limited’s decision to remove the word ‘fair’ from the most popular beauty product is definitely welcome but not the ultimate victory,” she added.

Mou concluded by making a very valid point and said, “Only when everyone realises that beauty is but skin deep and makes conscious decision to go beyond mediocrity to search their true selves, only when the world rises to humanity above all ‘isms’ can we create the utopian world of our dreams.”

Rightly said Mou. We couldn’t agree more.
