Shabina Khan on Urvashi Rautela’s dance no. in ‘Ek Diamond Da Haar’ : “It is a wonderful feeling to see an artist do justice to your vision”, says choreographer Shabina Khan who has choreographed numerous songs in Bollywood and is best known for the title track of ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo’ starring Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor. And well, we all remember Sonam’s portrayal of love in the beautiful steps that Shabina had choreographed.

Just recently, Shabina Khan reunited with actress Urvashi Rautela for a music number ‘Ek Diamond Da Haar’, and the music video has been heartily appreciated by the audience making it one of the popular wedding songs.
The choreographer-actor duo have worked in the past too and given us some major magical moves to groove on. With ‘Tera Bimar Mera Dil’ from the film Pagalpanti the duo gave tribute to late Sri Devi. With the song, Shabina introduced the age old dance form Raqs Sharqi to Bollywood and the dance number was very well received.

Talking about ,Ek Diamond Da Haar’, the choreographer added, “I have worked with Urvashi in the past and she is a brilliant dancer, I feel she is extremely hardworking and effortless and brings my work to life beautifully. I have kept the steps relatively easy so that everyone can dance their heart out, especially in weddings. Choreography is an art and it is amazing to see your vision come to life. I feel so grateful and overwhelmed when artists really put their 100% and do justice to my piece of art with their remarkable performance”.

The year 2020 is going to be an absolute busy year for Shabina Khan as she has a lot of projects lined up, which means we will get more groovy moves to deliver on the dance floor!
Her biggest upcoming project ‘Radhe’ will be with the mega superstar Salman Khan and directed by Prabhu Deva. Some more projects from her line-up are ‘Laila Manju’ directed by Prem Soni, ‘Hacked’ starring Hina Khan and ‘See You in Court’ a Vikram Bhatt directorial starring Daisy Shah.
Well, we are very excited to see what the dance artist has to offer and we wish the choreographer the very best for her upcoming work.

Filmmaker Saumitra Singh shares his directorial debut journey of Naseeruddin Shah starrer The Wallet

Director Saumitra Singh marks his directorial debut with the short film The Wallet that stars Naseeruddin Shah and Navni Parihar in the pivotal roles. The film narrates the heart touching and incomplete love story of an elderly couple. The Wallet went on to garner much appreciation in the festival circuits round the globe.

Actor Naseeruddin Shah says, “Just as miniature is more difficult to make than a large canvas, short stories are more difficult than to write a novel, I feel short films are also difficult to make than feature films since they have to be brief. Amongst all the short films I had done in past couple of years, I would recommend The Wallet, written and directed by Saumitra Singh, which is a very simple, sweet and moving story. I really enjoyed working on it even though it is helmed by a first time director but he was very clear with what he wanted.”

Actress Navni Parihar shares, “It was a great experience working for this beautiful short film The Wallet. It has a lovely and simple script, which is very well executed by writer-director Saumitra Singh. And yes, working with my favourite actor Mr. Naseeruddin Shah in it was the icing on the cake.”

Writer-director Saumitra Singh says, “Every project, every journey is a learning experience. Yes, it’s often a roller coaster ride, but that’s the fun of it. I feel grateful to have worked with great icons of our film industry like Naseeruddin Shah, Navni Parihar. My mother, Shipra Singh not just helped me to complete the film financially but also emotionally so that I can stay grounded and not get distracted. Another co-producer Garima Shukla and Shashwat Joshi helped the project at a point where we felt it might just not be completed.”

Co-producer Shashwat Joshi shares, “I knew Saumitra Singh from a long ago, I was sure he was a creative person. When I came to know that Saumitra is going to make a short film The Wallet with Naseeruddin Shah sir and Navni Parihar ma’am, then I went to meet him and found out that the story of the film so touching. I immediately joined this film because I wanted to work with Naseer sir, Navni ma’am and Saumitra. I will always be thankful to Saumitra for giving me and my production company Jack N Jill Pictures, a chance to associate with The Wallet.”

The Wallet is produced by Shipra Singh and co-produced by Garima Shukla and Shashwat Joshi. Hasan Khan is the Executive Producer (EP) on the film. The Wallet has grabbed over 50 plus awards among the national and international film festival circuits.

Post The Wallet, director Saumitra Singh helmed Painful Pride, Darwaaza and Kalabai From Byculla and will announce the release dates soon.

Filmmaker Saumitra Singh packs his directorial hattrick with Kala Bai From Byculla, shares his interesting journey

Director Saumitra Singh marks his directorial debut with the short film The Wallet that stars Naseeruddin Shah and Navin Parihar followed by second short Painful Pride that has Pallavi Joshi and Rituraj K Singh gears up for his third Kala Bai From Byculla with Sharib Hashmi, Shruti Bapna and Padmini Sardesai in the important roles.

Excited Saumitra Singh talks about his debut directorial The Wallet and says, “It was overwhelming to work with a living legend like Naseer sahab in the very first short film, it was completely unimaginable. It took a little time for the feeling to sink in. Once that happened, the question was how would I direct him, an actor par excellence? Then I decided, I will just stick to the plan and leave performance upto him as I was pretty sure that he will understand the story as well as I did.”

“Considering he is an one take actor, it was completely hassle free. For a beginner like me, it was very necessary to listen and decide and I did that. I gave all the room to him and other artists on the sets to improvise and allowed myself to solely concentrate on emotion,” he adds about Naseeruddin Shah.

Talking about his mother, who plays a pivotal role in his career says, “My mother, Shipra Singh not just helped me to complete the film financially but also emotionally so that I can stay grounded and not get distracted. Another co-producer Garima Shukla and Shashwat Joshi helped the project at a point where we felt it might just not be completed.”

His second directorial Painful Pride, that narrates a story of woman and her phase of menopause stars Pallavi Joshi in the lead role. Talking about this short, he reveals, “Maansi, the producer of Painful Pride saw the posters of The Wallet and she discussed with me the concept she had conceived and shown a possibility to collaborate. The idea was an exclusive one, I immediately agreed. The urge to tell a story on a subject that had not been properly touched before convinced me to just go ahead at once.”

He continues… “I connected with Sankalp, a long time friend, to pen the script. I somehow was convinced that considering his sensibilities and views, he is the best person to write it for us. Once the writing began, we gradually became sure that the film will be made. We approached Pallavi Joshi ma’am with the story and she immediately said yes after reading the synopsis and so did Rituraj (Singh) sir. Without any further delay, Maansi, Hasan Khan (EP) and I decided to go ahead. Hasan worked tirelessly to put the logistics together for us and we completed the film in two days which ideally should have been given a 3 day schedule. But we were also cautious of the budget and the challenge was to bring out the best in the money we had.”

After The Wallet and Painful Pride, Saumitra has recently wrapped up his third directorial short Kala Bai From Byculla. On this, he says, “It’s an unique and a wonderful story written by Nameesh Sharma and ideated by Himan that I wanted to make after Painful Pride. Somehow, I had Sharib hashmi in mind for the lead role. Just then I met shashwat and narrated the idea to him. He showed interest in getting involved in the making of the film. Infact, he then decided to produce it and we started the work. I thought of getting in touch with Padmini Sardesai ma’am, a veteran and Shruti Bapna, who I found wonderful in The Lunchbox. They immediately said yes and once again, I have collaborated with Hasan Khan and there was no looking back. I want to give special shoutout to my direction team Raina & Amaninder Singh.”
