Singer Arpita Chakraborty unites with director Prasad Kadam for a romantic single

Singer Arpita Chakraborty, who has sung many film songs for ‘Total Dhamaal’, ‘Satyagraha’, ‘Ragini MMS2’, ‘Hero’ and ‘Bezubaan Ishq’ is all set to release a single. It is a romantic number ‘Makhmali’ and directed by the talented Prasad Kadam. The song will feature ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ actor Omkar Kapoor in it.

Kadam, who has directed a lot of ad films, said, “It was fun shooting this music video. Whether you are shooting for a film or a single or music video, the only change is the scale and duration of your involvement. I had been approached earlier to direct a music video for them, but I didn’t want to do something mediocre. I wasn’t interested in directing a single, which portrayed girls wearing skimpy clothes and and dancing in a bar. When Arpita expressed her idea for an original song, I was excited.”

Prasad added, “With “Makhmali” we are trying to bring back retro gangsta era. We had planned what exactly we wanted to achieve. The look, the color palette, the choreography, even the kind of guns we have used was important. I am sure the audiences will enjoy watching the song.”

Prasad has in the past couple of years directed ads for many MNCs and corporates. He commented how he shot an ad for Enrich during the lockdown. Prasad said, “Enrich is one of our regular clients, we shot an ad for them in the lockdown too. We asked actors to shoot videos and send from home. Our ads for Gleneagles Global Hospitals for Cancer Awareness recieved many awards.” The director also reveals how he plans to direct a feature film after the music video.

Ask Prasad, what or who inspires him the most and he said, “Ram Gopal Verma made some highly inspiring film in the 90s. ‘Satya’, Kaun, Company, Rangeela – they are all wonderful films. I wanted to make films the way he was doing back then. Mani Ratnam’s films have also had a big influence. When I was in UK I got closer to world cinema. I would love to make films in the sci-fi genre. If my first film clicks, I would want to work on a sci-fi film. I have a script in place, too.”

Dushman’ is a message to people: Ankit Tiwari on his COVID related song

Ankit Tiwari composed and sung titled “Dushman”, which he released on his YouTube channel, based on the ongoing Coronavirus crisis. The lyrics was given to him by a friend with whom he had worked in “Malang”, and he says it’s not a song but a message for the people.

“I had worked with a lyricist in ‘Malang’, and he had sent me some lines and I found it very interesting and composed something on my piano, it’s an unplugged song. It’s not a song, it’s actually a message for the people. I made it and released it online, and it made me feel really good,” he shared.

The “Teri galliyan” singer composed the song during the lockdown and revealed that he had no instruments at the time but he still managed it through a neighbour. And even revealed that his wife Pallavi shot the video on his phone.

“When I composed this song, I had absolutely nothing. My entire set up was in my studio and because of the lockdown I couldn’t bring any of my instruments. There’s a programmer in my society, so I requested him to give me his instruments. The DOP of the video is my wife, so both of us actually waited for a day to check where we get good daylight and shot it the next day on my phone. Utkarsh has edited the video,” he said.

Ankit also opened up about the state of the music industry during these tough COVID times and said, “Music industry is already affected. All the musicians, and in fact all those who do live shows, are suffering a lot. In fact some of my musician and singer friends left for their hometown and said that they will come back only next year. It was very disheartening. Even I left for Bangalore and am staying here. I just hope things get back to normal soon. And I am eagerly waiting to get back on the stage to do a live show.”

He also admitted that he and his family are mentally prepared to fight against the Coronavirus. “There is no option. We all are prepared, my family is. In fact, at home, we discuss how we are going to manage things in the future, but at the same time, we have left a few things on the time too. We also left Mumbai and came to Bangalore and many like me have gone back to their hometowns,” Ankit signed off.
