The uniform gets you into a different mode, says Arjun Bijlani on playing a NSG Commando

For his first web series “State of Siege: 26/11”, Arjun Bijlani got into the shoes of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, a NSG Commando, and played the character of Major Nikhil Manikrishnan. He says a sense of patriotism kicks in once you wear the uniform and adds that it gets you in a different mode. “State of Siege: 26/11”, which premiered on ZEE5 Original, gives a detailed account of the terror attack in Mumbai that happened on November 26, 2008. The show is based on Sandeep Unnithan’s book “Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11” and was directed by Matthew Leutwyler.

Arjun said, “When you wear that uniform, it gets you into a different mode altogether. You automatically start feeling a sense of responsibility towards your nation and that feeling of patriotism kicks in. We all are patriotic but to wear that uniform, it is a feeling of inner strength, responsibility, and there is that whole aura about the uniform which you feel.” “There is a one-shot sequence for which I rehearsed for 13-14 hours, so it was an amazing feeling. And these people do this every day, and I was so exhausted, by the end of the day,” he added.

When asked how he prepared for the role, he said, “Fitness was one thing, I lost a lot of weight to look like a Commando. Then there was weapon training which I took from Lt Col (Retd.) Sandeep Sen, there was mental training as well, because Commandos need to be mentally very strong. Lt Col (Retd) Sandeep Sen told us how important it is to be mentally fit because one wrong move and you could lose your life. So, you need to be alert at all times.”

“How you need to move, how you need to walk, what is the feeling when you are going for a mission, and you know you are going out there and you may lose your life. So, we took a lot of mental, and physical training, and I was on for the show. Even while shooting he was always there to guide us and to tell us how that movement was when it actually happened in real-time. So that really helped us get through the series,” he added. Talking about his equation with the director, Arjun said that they got along really well and mentioned that his words encouraged and motivated him to work harder even in his future projects. “Matthew and I got along really well. And in fact he used to tell me that Arjun I really love it when you are on the set because you exactly understand my instruction, you know what I want from you and you deliver it, and if I have to make any changes you understand that as well. And that’s what an actor and director relationship should be. We used to go out for lunch. We never had any arguments, we sailed through so beautifully, and in fact, we even became friends after that,” he said. The promotions of “State of Siege: 26/11” were cancelled due to the nationwide lockdown, but the actor says they had faith in the show because it beautifully captured the 60-hour siege that happened.

“We were supposed to travel to five cities, it all got cancelled. We were just hoping that since everyone was at home during the lockdown, people would watch it through word of mouth. But we didn’t know it would be loved so much that it was actually the most-watched web series at one point. And for years to come, this show will always be there, and people are going to relive what happened on 26/11 through this show because it beautifully captures the 60-hour siege that happened from all angles,” Arjun signed off.

Shashank Vyas has made fans go gaga over him since the day he stepped in the industry. He made his acting debut with social drama “Balika Vadhu” and will soon be seen in Bollywood film “Laila Manju”.

The actor has a huge following on social media and he keeps them engaged with his pics. Speaking of pics, have you checked out Shashank’s new pics yet. The handsome actor looks quite hunky in the pics and will definitely make you go ooh la la.

It’s commendable how he can so easily rock a clean shaven look and even a beard and still look so hot. And did I forget to mention those pics with his chiselled body. Be it a casual tee and jeans or a formal attire, he looks lit in all of them.

And if you thought Shashank is just a good looking guy, think again. He can easily bowl you over with his poetry. In fact, he has so far written three poems, one on the plight of migrant labourers, another a romantic tragedy and one a tribute to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Rupali Ganguly is elated to perform Hawa Hawai in Anupamaa

Rajan Shahi’s Anupamaa is being appreciated and accepted by the audience. The show has been talk of the town for various reasons, whether it is the perfect casting of the lead Anupamaa by Rupali Ganguly and Vanraj by Sudhanshu Pandey with a stellar supporting cast or the high emotional connect with the audience are glued to the show.
Anupamaa has a lot of song and dance sequences which helps the show to go forward from time to time. Recently one of the cult songs of Hindi films Hawa Hawai from Mr. India has been shot with Rupali Ganguly.

Speaking about the whole experience of shooting Hawa Hawai Rupali says,” There is nobody in this world who can match steps with Sridevi. Thanks to Rajan Shahi who has given me so many opportunities in the show. I can’t thank him enough. Through Anupamaa all of my dreams and wishes are coming true.
I remember I have seen Mr. India as a trial show in Ajanta. It was a full house so all the kids were sitting down and then, later on, I have seen the film at Satyam theatre. In fact, I want my kid to watch Mr. India as his first film. You can’t remove Sridevi from Hawa Hawai. The dance moves of Sridevi were ultimate. In my childhood I have performed so many of Sridevi’s film songs, whether it is Nagina, Chalbaaz or Mr. India – she has been my favourite idol. I am a big fan of her work, I remember when she passed away I cried miserably and also went to give my last respect to her. This performance is a small and humble tribute to Sridevi.” Along with Rupali the rest of the cast Paras Kalnawat, Muskaan Bamne, Aashish K N Mehrotra, Jasveer Kaur also danced in the song. The song will be telecasted tomorrow.

The pati, patni aur woh angle brings new twist  in ‘Anupamaa’

Rajan Shahi’s “Anupamaa” identifies with the masses and thus has kept the audience engaged since it’s debut. Apart from the struggles of a homemaker, the show also has the perfect mix of love, romance and drama to maintain the correct balance. To add to the ongoing drama Rushad Rana will be entering the show in Saturday’s (August 8) episode.

The actor will play Anirudh, who is Madalsa Sharma’s on-screen character Kavya’s husband. Though the couple does not live together, they are not legally separated. Also, it’s pretty clear that Kavya is in a relationship with Vanraj, played by Sudhanshu Pandey, who is married to Rupali Ganguly’s on-screen character Anupamaa. So far, Kavya was portrayed as the “woh”, but with Anirudh’s entry Vanraj will become the “woh” now.

Vanraj is seen as a very stern and dominating character. And now with Anirudh’s entry in the show, it will be interesting to see how his character changes, and whether he will be able to understand Anupamaa’s pain now.

Watch out for the episode to witness the new drama.

“Anupamaa”, co-produced by Rajan Shahi and his mother Deepa Shahi under their banner Shahi Production Pvt Ltd., airs Monday to Saturday at 10 p.m. on Star Plus. It also features Paras Kalnawat, Aashish Mehrotra, Muskaan Bamne, Alpana Buch and Arvind Vaidya.
